What is PHP?
PHP is a programming language specially designed for writing web applications (scripts) running on a Web server. An important advantage of the PHP language is the ability to create HTML documents with embedded PHP commands. A significant difference between PHP and any other code running on the client side, for example, JavaScript, is that PHP scripts are executed on the server side. PHP allows you to create high-quality Web applications in a very short time, receiving easily modifiable products.
PHP is available for most operating systems, including Linux, many Unix modifications (such as HP-UX, Solaris and OpenBSD), Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, RISC OS, and many others.
PHP is able to generate not only HTML. It is possible to create images, PDF files and even Flash movies.
Such language as PHP is mostly used for development of web applications and different websites.
